We eventually left & started our own events company up and are now 23 members strong, Not all of our team do hosting but they are still a part of Darkside Spirit Seekers and we include them in everything we do. Each member of the team have their own expertise & knowledge within the paranormal field.

So lets meet Team: Darkside Spirit Seekers

Michelle Standland

Hi, I'm Michelle and I'm 46 years old. I am co-owner & founder of Darkside Spirit Seekers. I've been fascinated by the paranormal since I was a child but really got into it back in 2020. What got me thinking about the paranormal was my son used to tell me, back in 2015, that he could hear footsteps & noises within our home but I never used to believe him as kids minds can run wild sometimes. It was around 2018 that I, myself, started hearing noises in the loft but I didn't put this down to anything other than normal house noise. I always felt quite strange in the house as well but I put that down to my newly diagnosed illness.

Anyway a few years went by and I still kept hearing these strange noises but they were getting more and more frequent but still didn't think to look further into them. This was all about to change. I got invited to do a paranormal investigation at Ravenscar near Scarborough and what I witnessed was to change my life and my thoughts of the paranormal in general forever. I got everything ready to take and set off to the location. Not long after we set off I said to my husband at the time, that I was seeing a lady dressed in white sat in the back of the car which was scarily strange as there was only the 2 of us in the car at that time. My husband said I was crazy and that there was nobody there and he told me to forget about it as it was my mind playing tricks on me. So after a very awkward drive to Ravenscar, we arrived and I told the medium there about this mysterious woman in white and he confirmed that I wasn't crazy and he could see her to. He assured me that by the end of the night my husband would do to. The investigation went as ok as it could & pictures were taken at the end of the night. After getting home I looked at the pictures sent to me and low & behold there was a woman in a white dress behind me. Ever since that day it made me realise that after all these years of me hearing, seeing and feeling things, it wasn't just my imagination and indeed I was a sensitive. I've gathered cracking evidence over the years since, from voices, pictures and light anomalies etc so this is how it all began for me.

I never force my feelings and beliefs onto others and never will. We need sceptics & none believers in this field as well as the believers. I love telling people at our events about our evidence & experience as well as listening to other people's. If I can turn a full on sceptic into a believer or get them to at least question their beliefs then that is fantastic but like I said I will never force it on anyone.

Mark Nicholas

Hi I'm Mark and I'm 50 years old. I'm the co-owner and founder of Darkside Spirit Seekers and I'm Michelle's partner. I got into the paranormal around 6/7 years ago and before that I did urban exploring which I've done for over 10 years. It was while I was exploring an abandoned manor house in Gainsborough I witnessed things that, me and my mate Joe, couldn't explain and got me thinking more about the possibility of the paranormal. Up to this point I was a firm believer that the paranormal and ghosts were a load of rubbish and made up (my own words). What I witnessed was about to change my beliefs forever. While walking about exploring this house I saw an unexplained mist travel up the staircase and then just disappear. I did manage to capture this strange mist on my phone. That just blew me away completely. Whilst upstairs exploring we both heard a noise downstairs, like someone walking over broken plates and that made us stop and go deathly quiet. As far as we were aware we were the only ones in this property. So we went back down the stairs thinking it was either more explorers, kids or the police. But we found no one and heard nothing else. As we were about go back upstairs we saw a small perfume bottle on the bottom spindle of the stairs that had an old b&w photo resting in front of it. Shock number 2 as it was not there when we first went up the stairs. We also later found out it was the grandmother of the man that used to own the house (he's now deceased). We finished the explore and went home where I started to view the pictures I'd took on my phone. Shock number 3. I caught quite a few unexplained mists on a few of my pictures which I can't debunk as it was only on part of the picture, I hold my breath when I take photos and it wasn't due to being cold as it was quite a warm night. But the main thing that blew me away was that on 1 of my pictures there was a mist over half the photo which covered half of the sofa and also the fireplace nearby. On the sofa you can clearly see a young girl sitting on it and in the fireplace is another girl and a Westie type dog morphed into it. It isn't pareidolia or anything else as I've had the picture analysed by professionals. All this changed my thoughts on the paranormal and I've been actively seeking it ever since.

Me and Michelle have been together 4 years and we share our house with a few spirits of our own 24/7 and we often hear strange and unexplained noises.

I'm former military and I was in the Grenadier Guards for 5 years. That was my life and I really enjoyed it a lot. This is also why exploring and investigating former military sites is my favourite and I can usually relate to the spirits that reside there. We do find a lot of the abandoned bases hold many spirits of the men and women that were stationed and worked there. I think that my military training makes me both a good explorer and investigator as I'm methodical in how I search each room and building and my senses are finely tuned tuned to see anything that moves or makes a sound

Chantelle Jobson

I'm Chantelle, I'm 38 years old and have one son.

I became interested in the paranormal from a very early age when i moved into a haunted house with my parents and sister.

There was lots going on in that house and my mum would set up a little office with a type writer, paper & pens for me to write up my experiences like a proper investigator. She would also write up her own paranormal experiences at the same time to see if our findings corroborate with each other

I've had many many experiences over the years.

I enjoy history, looking after my pets (I have quite a few) cross stitching, crafts & genealogy

Jakki Twyman

I have been interested in the paranormal for about 20 years.

I work as a teacher at my local school and love my job.

My first ever experience was in a flat I lived in and that was not nice experience at all.

I started attending events & my top 5 places are :

Fort Paull

Annisons Funeral Parlour

The Old Nick Theatre Gainsborough

Saltmarsh Hall

The Village Museum Skegness

I joined a paranormal group where I met Richard Smith through that group. That group's affiliation ended and we were asked if we would like to join another group which is Darkside Spirit Seekers.

As well as the paranormal I love exploring old abandoned buildings too.

Nicola Usher

Hello, my name is Nicola and I am from Grimsby. I was introduced to the paranormal by my late Uncle Tony, who informed me that my late grandad would come and visit us when we were asleep. He would often see him standing next to my cabin bed and we would often smell pipe smoke in our bedroom. This became the normal chat on a Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night when he would babysit us. My uncle also introduced me to horror films by watching Poltergeist but this didn't turn out well as the TV scene made me physically sick with fear. I soon got over that fear and eventually went on to loving horror films. This lead me to read and research about the paranormal. Fast forward to recent times and I met my soon to be husband Richard, who is a paranormal investigator, and we have been on many investigations together. We, along with Jakki were asked to join Darkside Spirit Seekers and we all go out and investigate together when we can. On a couple of our recent investigations child spirits have been drawn to me because they feel safe around me. I have learnt so much about the paranormal world and am looking forward to learning more.

Richard Smith

I'm Richard, I'm 41 and I got into paranormal after my father passed away. I do Oracle Cards and I also have a selection of haunted vessels in my house with whom I communicate with on a regular basis. I work as a security officer at my local school which helps me to always improve on my communicative skills and confrontation skills that can sometimes come in handy when dealing with the paranormal and also our public events. I was introduced to Darkside Spirit Seekers by a good friend Jakki who is also part of the team and I love going out on investigations to prove that life after death does exist. I look forward to meeting all the customers at our future events.

Nicole Crowley Smith

Hi I'm Nicole, I'm a field guide creator & tech specialist.

My interest in the paranormal started years ago thanks to Ghost Hunters & (TAPS) and grew even stronger through a shared passion with a friend.

Since then I've had a handful of paranormal experiences, some spine chilling & others just plain fascinating.

These days I'm mostly behind the scene working on Darkside Spirit Seekers as their resident IT girl & the creator of our paranormal field guide.

Whether it's documenting our findings or keeping our gear & systems running smoothly I'm always working from the shadows to support the team.
